Ely and Tom DeGroodt have over 25-30 years each in corporate America. Valuable experience gained through working in large companies has sharpened their skill sets in varying fields. Tom has an engineering background, worked for John Deere in their engineering department designing everything from a 60,000-pound cotton picker to small tractors. Ely has a project and process management background, worked for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage then transitioned to IT systems implementation in huge warehouses, wrapping up her career as a Director of Portfolio and Project Management with Augusta University Health Systems. In the past 6 years, they have focused on utilizing and honing their skills as housing providers.

Tom, as the Maintenance Manager for SHL Investments, addresses any maintenance issues in a timely manner. He engages our professional vendor partners when necessary and coordinates with the Property Manager for any on site repairs. Tom enjoys working with his hands, identifying problems, problem solving and fixing issues. His mechanical background is an excellent asset as part of his role.

Ely, the Property Manager for SHL Investments, addresses all interactions through the website, marketing available homes, application process, coordinating / conducting lease contract signing and onboarding new tenants. Ely enjoys supporting existing tenants with any questions, conducting quarterly inspections and coordinating any maintenance repairs required between Tom and the tenants.
